Soul Mate

Who believes in soul mates? I have to say though I'm not a hopeless romantic really, I do believe that there is one person for everybody--a soul mate. Some of us are lucky enough to end up with that person; others not so lucky--too late maybe.

My theory is this: sometimes by the time we encounter our soul mate, one of the pair is already complacent in a relationship that was not intended for him. What I'm saying is that sometimes people settle with someone that they should be with. And when true love comes into their life--or the possibility of true love--they are preoccupied with something else.

Then they are left looking back wondering "what if"....which we all know sucks. The idea of what could have been--whether it would have been or not--is brutal. Its an idea that consumes you, and every thought you have somehow leads back to the "what if". Wouldn't it be easier if we were all honest with our emotions and followed our hearts, rather than lean toward what's easiest.

There should be cliff notes when it comes to love and finding your special someone that was just made for you--that way we wouldn't totally be cheating, but would be guided down the right path to meet Prince (or Princess) Charming and live happily ever after instead of pondering something from the past.
